Sunoco Challenges Supported By
The 2019 Sunoco Whelen Challenge is provided in partnership with Whelen Engineering in the USA and Anglo American Oil Company Ltd. in the UK and enables racers from selected Sunoco fuelled Championships to compete against each other across the race season. The Sunoco Whelen Challenge pits drivers across eligible Sunoco fuelled championships against each other, with the final award presented to the highest-average scoring driver competing in one of the qualifying series or championships in Europe where Sunoco (Anglo American Oil Company) is the official fuel supplier.
Eligible championships for the 2018 race season are: Pro-drivers in the British GT3 and GT4 Championship, Radical European Masters (Classes SR3 & SR8), LMP3 Cup Championship and new for 2018 the British F3 Championship – it is only drivers these series which are likely to be a able to handle a Daytona Prototype at plus 190mph on the famed 31° Daytona banking.
The 2019 Sunoco 240 Challenge is run by Anglo American Oil Company Ltd. and provides the winner, from additional eligible series, with a race seat in a top GS class sports car car during the 4-hour BMW Endurance race on the Friday before the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Included in the prize is travel, hotel, the cost of the prize drive and a dedicated race suit for the winner. The driver who wins the challenge gains the full American experience and races in an American muscle car such as a V8 powered Chevrolet Camaro.
The 2018 season is open to drivers competing in: Britcar Endurance, F3 Cup, GT Cup, Radical Solo Championship, MINI Challenge, and British GT3, GT4 and LMP3 Cup AM drivers.

British F3 Championship – When Felipe Nasr won the Sunoco Daytona Challenge in 2011 and went on to finish 3rd in the 2012 Rolex 24 At Daytona it was the last year British F3 drivers could participate in the Sunoco Challenge. now 7 years later British F3 has again grown to such a standard that we are pleased to invite them to participate in the Sunoco Whelen Challenge. Organised into four classes, split by power to weight ratio, the GT Cup Championship is open to a wide variety of fabulous GT cars. MINI Challenge – MINI Challenge is one of the most exciting one make Championships in the UK. The class structure offers career racers, seasoned privateers, and new race drivers a competitive environment where overall championship victory is achievable. The series is increasingly seen as a training ground for the touring car drivers of the future.
